About me
Gwen Bissette has dedicated more than 20 years to education and public service. She began her career as a pre-K teacher while earning her degree in Human Services before spending nearly a decade in the insurance industry. This corporate experience strengthened her customer service, problem-solving, and client relations skills while enhancing her ability to deliver clear, effective solutions to business owners and end users.
Driven by a passion for supporting students and families, Gwen returned to education and public service as an Exceptional Children teacher assistant at Wayne County's Greenwood Middle School. In 2006, she joined the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) Technology Support Team during the final phase of the state's transition from SIMS to NC WISE Student Information System (SIS). As the state migrated to the PowerSchool SIS, Gwen advanced to Tier 2 support, providing specialized expertise, troubleshooting, and data management guidance to districts statewide.
In 2022, leveraging more than 15 years of experience across three statewide student information platforms, Gwen joined NCDPI’s Educational Technology Solutions team and assisted with the state's conversion to Infinite Campus. Today, Gwen serves as an IT Business Systems Analyst, developing student information system requirements and helping ensure North Carolina’s compliance with state and federal requirements. Her extensive institutional knowledge, technical expertise, deep understanding of agency operations, and commitment to public education continue to support the success of students, educators, and districts across the state.
