About me
Walter Raif joined DPI in 2013, coinciding with North Carolina's implementation of PowerSchool. He quickly became one of the first certified in both PowerSchool and PowerScheduler. Initially the Technical Supervisor for PowerSchool, Walter moved to the Educational Technology Solutions team in November 2020 where he now wrote requirements for the SIS to meet specific business needs. In 2024 Walter moved to the NCSIS team where he is the NCSIS Assistant Product Coordinator and is responsible for State Reporting development and overseeing/writing many of the data validations currently in production.
Walter's career before DPI was diverse and valuable. He served 15 years in the Navy, then worked for IBM in North Carolina for 11 years. His strong background in programming, networking, IT support, and training made him a sought-after professional at a contracting company working with various state agencies, including DIT, DOT, ESC, and DHHS. This varied experience equipped Walter with unique skills he now applies to his impactful work at DPI, where he has been for over a decade.
